Instructors:
Dennis R. Román Roa, PhD (Management and Leadership Module)
Dr. Román has more than 30 years of professional experience. He has a doctorate in Business Development and Management, a Juris Doctor, a master's degree in Business Administration and a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. As part of his experience in the industrial and commercial side of business, Dr. Román has held executive roles in key manufacturing U.S. multinational corporations in PR, the Caribbean, and the Northeast Region. His most significant achievements are in the areas of business transformation and their turnaround.
Dr. Román Roa is the Dean of Sagrado's Business School where he also teaches.
René R. Barguez Pérez, DBA (Marketing and Sales Module)
Dr. Barguez Pérez has two bachelor's degrees, one in Advertising and the second one in Business Communications with a minor in Public Relations. He completed a master's degree in Marketing and a doctorate in Business Administration. He also holds certifications in: Professional Certified Marketer awarded by the American Marketing Association, Digital Marketing Analytics awarded by MIT Sloan School of Management, and Certified Digital Marketing Professional awarded by the Digital Marketing Institute.
Dr. Barguez is the Academic Leader of the Undergraduate Marketing program and the Master's Degree program in Digital Marketing. He also teaches at Sagrado’s Business School. Dr. Barguez Pérez is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA), the Association for Sales and Marketing Executives (SME), and the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Puerto Rico Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (PRASBE).
Alba Brugueras Fabre, PhD (Strategy and Innovation Module)
Dr. Brugueras Fabre has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Economics, as well as a PhD in International Business from the University of Puerto Rico. She also has a PhD in Language Research from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. She has worked for nearly 20 years as an economist and consultant in economic related affairs.
She was president of the Association of Economists of Puerto Rico and has served on boards of various nonprofit organizations. Among her main areas of interest and research are economic development, foreign investments, labor markets, entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and gender equality. She has presented at numerous local and international conferences where she has been invited to be a keynote speaker. In 2023, she contributed to the publication “Post-disaster economy and development: Voices of the women economists from Puerto Rico '' for the Latin American Council of Social Sciences [CLACSO, Spanish acronym]. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Sagrado’s Business School where she teaches economics, statistics, research, and sustainable development.
Fernando Fernández, DBA (Operations and Supply Chain Module)
Dr. Fernández has a DBA from the Universidad del Turabo and an MS and BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico. He has extensive teaching experience in the areas of Material Management, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management. Dr. Fernandez is a Registered Professional Engineer. Prior to teaching, Dr. Fernandez worked at Avon Products. Among the roles he held at Avon Products were: Industrial Engineer, Materials Manager, Plant Manager, General Manager, and VP Customer Service.
Rolando López Rivera, CPA, Esq. (Accounting and Finance Module)
Rolando López Rivera has a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico Law School and a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Florida State University. He is Past President of the Colegio de Contadores Públicos Autorizados of Puerto Rico. Through the years, he has chaired its Tax Committee and Public Policy Affairs Committee on numerous occasions. He has also chaired the Tax Committee of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce. He was a partner at the international firm KPMG and was in charge of the firm’s tax practice. Professor López is a renowned lecturer on tax issues. In 2021, he was appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico to a non-partisan Advisory Group that presented recommendations for tax reform. Currently he is Academic Leader of the accounting program at the Sagrado's Business School.
Nardelis Soto Sánchez, PhD (Talent and HR Management Module)
Dr. Nardelis Soto Sánchez earned her master's and doctoral degrees in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. She also has a certificate in Disruptive Strategy from the Harvard Business School Online. She holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, Senior Human Resources Professional from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP), Lean Green Belt, and is a certified trainer in the innovative methodology LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®.
Dr. Soto Sánchez currently serves as instructor for SHRM's professional certification preparatory course in Human Resources. Throughout her career, she has held executive positions including Director of Talent Management, Director of Learning and Development, and Manager of Organizational Development. Dr. Soto Sánchez's contributions to her field have been recognized through prestigious awards such as the Learning and Talent Development Professional Award from the Association for Talent Development in 2015 and the Professional Volunteer Member of the Year by the Puerto Rico Psychology Association in 2012.
